Our current Plasma Table has a down draft setup that we installed after we purchased it. We quickly found the need after the layer of plasma dust began to cover everything in the shop.
With this table we wanted to go with a water table for a couple of reasons. We wanted better control of the dust and smoke from the cutting and we also wanted some help keeping the plate cooler during the cut.
We cut steel targets and the heat affected zone on AR plate is a critical factor.
Water weighs a lot and our current table was not built to support the weight. We made sure that our iplasma table from Precision Plasma could support this and were glad to find out that it was designed to work with a water table.
Now what to use in the water table. Do I use water? But Water is going to Rust every piece of steel that I put on the table and I do not need any more work than I already have.
So I began searching the web and did not find much, I went to the forums and found that a chemical called Plasma Quench used to be the hot ticket. Unfortunately the web an forums was filled with stories of horrible customer service and apparently they went out of business and no one could get it anymore so people began making home brew plasma quench with chemicals you could buy of of Ebay.
I though this was what I was going to do so that I did not have problems with rust, algea, odors ect.
Every time I found a post about how to make it I read a post about the dangers of the chemicals involved. There were conversations back and forth about if it was safe or not. Feeling a little leery about this home brew I kept searching.
I found Lube Corp Manufacturing Inc.
